AFMA-SAAHA Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Workshop

AFMA and SAAHA are collaborating to address the critical need for coherence and clarity in antimicrobial programmes for control and surveillance across the various industry sectors.

Aim of the workshop

The workshop will provide stakeholders with a comprehensive overview of AMR trends and initiatives, facilitating knowledge exchange, enhancing interactions, and encouraging collaboration among participants. It aims to deepen our collective insight into AMR’s complexities.

 

Who should attend

This workshop is designed for stakeholders from the animal health sectors, including producers, suppliers, manufacturers, researchers, veterinarians, and policymakers. Join us as we collectively address the issues and prospects of managing antimicrobial resistance.

 

Objectives

  • Initiating dialogue on AMR among supplier- and producer organisations and other stakeholders within South Africa.
  • Examining global developments and drivers in AMR.
  • Raising awareness among various stakeholders about current approaches to antimicrobial use, control, resistance, and surveillance.
  • Providing a platform for stakeholders to share progress to date in implementing their sector-specific programmes.
  • Presenting local research and developments in AMR.

The AFMA-SAAHA Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Workshop is planned to take place in 2026. Registration for the workshop will only open closer to the next scheduled set date.
