Launched in 2008, The AFMA Code of Conduct (CoC) is AFMA’s flagship self-regulation tool. It allows members to demonstrate compliance with best practices beyond regulation. It covers everything from sourcing to manufacturing, storage and delivery and is audited by an independent third-party auditor.
It is the foundation of consumer confidence and industry credibility and trust. Every full and associate member who displays this logo has undergone a rigorous, independent audit process. Only once they’ve met all the standards can they earn the right to use this logo on their product.
This logo = Trust. Safety. Integrity.
It means the feed has been made to the highest industry standards – and you can feed with confidence.
At AFMA, integrity isn’t just a value – it’s the foundation of everything we do!
AFMA’s Code of Conduct is more than a set of standards; it’s a bold statement of our industry’s commitment to feed safety, ethical business, and professional excellence. So, what exactly does it mean when this logo is present?

In a time where trust is everything, the Code of Conduct ensures that AFMA members stand out as responsible, transparent, and quality-driven partners in the agricultural value chain. It signals to customers, suppliers, and regulators that our members are committed to best practices, compliance, and continuous improvement.
When you see the AFMA Code of Conduct logo, you’re not just seeing a symbol – you’re seeing a standard of excellence. It means the feed has been made to the highest industry standards – and you can feed with confidence. This emblem represents trust, safety, and professional excellence across the entire animal feed value chain. Every AFMA member displaying this logo has passed a rigorous, third-party audit and complies with 12 critical principles that safeguard animal health, consumer confidence, and industry integrity.
You can be confident that the feed you're purchasing is legally compliant, ethically manufactured, and nutritionally sound. You’re supporting a supplier that prioritizes quality, transparency, and food safety - because your animals deserve the best.
Working with an AFMA Code-compliant member means partnering with a business that values integrity, sustainability, and fair competition. You’re aligning your brand with a responsible and progressive supply chain.
This badge ensures products meet South Africa’s highest feed safety standards, aligned with both local legislation and international best practices. It reinforces accountability - every certified facility is independently verified to meet AFMA’s strict criteria.
